The Columbus Hockey Association (CHA) is proud to announce Orrin Hergott as the new Hockey director for the organization.  Orrin, a Humboldt, Saskatchewan (Can) native has been a fixture in the Columbus hockey community, first as a player in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) playing over 400 games with the Snakes.  His jersey, #11, hangs in the rafters of the Columbus Civic Center after being retired several years ago.  Orrin served as head coach for the Columbus Jr. Cottonmouths high school (GSHL) team and has held the role of Assistant Coach for the Auburn University hockey team.  In its final year, Orrin held co-coaching responsibilities alongside longtime head coach Jerome Bechard on the SPHL Cottonmouths’ bench.  Orrin was part of two championship seasons with the Snakes and had great success on the bench for the GSHL Jr. Cottonmouths and Auburn University.

As Hockey Director for the CHA, Orrin will be responsible for all on and off ice programs and activities.  He will be “the face of the CHA” in the community and will work to bring more exposure to the CHA.  The Hockey Director will interface with other programs around the Southern Amateur Hockey Association (SAHA) and will work to keep the CHA active and competitive at all levels.  With a wealth of experience on and behind the bench, the organization is excited to have Orrin in this role.

Orrin and his wife Fonda have one son, Nixon, and live in Harris County, GA.  Please join us in congratulating Orrin on his new role.
