Butch Cochran Scholarship

The Butch Cochran Hardship Scholarship is open for interested applicants. 

This scholarship is open to all youth families who would like to seek assistance paying for their player's hockey fees. 

Applications are due March 13th and should be submitted to heatherprince@me.com.

If you are selected for a scholarship, you will be notified by April 1st.

 

PRESIDENT’S SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

Thank you for your interest in the CHA President’s Scholarship. The scholarship committee must receive the following before MaRCH 13 for Consideration:
  • This completed application
  • A copy of your child’s January report card (8th Grade and below)
  • Official High School Transcript (High School Students).
  • A written recommendation from your team’s Head Coach.
  • Two written recommendations from Teachers/Administrators at your School.

ALL OF THE ABOVE INFORMATION MUST BE INCLUDED WITH YOUR APPLICATION OR IT WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.

2020-21 President's Scholarship Winner: Brayden Keiser

Criteria

Three Scholarships will be awarded per year. The CHA President’s Scholarship is offered to members of the CHA Youth League and is intended to cover the registration fees for one season, up to $425. The Scholarship is offered by the CHA as a means of giving back for the support of Ice Hockey in Columbus, Georgia. Scholarship awards will be based on the following criteria:

  • Minimum of 3.0 (B) grade point average.
  • No game misconduct penalties during current season.
  • Participation in a minimum of 9 regular season games (with exceptions for injuries).

Selection

The President’s Scholarship committee will take into account the following and make a decision for each.

  1. Coach’s recommendation, including leadership and sportsmanship.
  2. Teacher’s recommendation, including scholastic achievement, classroom behavior, participation, and overall attitude.
  3. Overall GPA for High School.
  4. Extra-Curricular activities and Community Service activities.

Each application will be blind judged by the committee. The chairman will modify each application to remove names, team information, School names or anything that may identify the applicant to the committee. This will assure that each applicant will get a fair assessment.

Only complete applications will be accepted, applications with missing information will be eliminated and not returned to the applicant. Do not submit applications with any missing information or documentation.

Applications must be postmarked by March 13th.  The CHA is not responsible for lost, misdirected, or delayed applications.
